Resident Evil 4 Small Key Locations And What Each Key Unlocks

12 September 2026 | 192

Navigating through the survival horror world of Resident Evil 4 requires careful resource management and thorough exploration. Among the most valuable items players can discover are Small Keys, single-use consumables that unlock specific locked drawers containing high-value treasures. Knowing where to locate each key and understanding which locked drawers yield the best rewards ensures Leon can maximize his Pesetas for weapon upgrades.

Finding Small Keys in the Village Region

The Village section contains five distinct Small Keys scattered across key story locations. Players can find the first key inside a small case in the Valley area, while the second rests on a table inside the Village Chief's Manor. Additional keys are hidden within a drawer at the Fish Farm, on a cart at the Forest Altar, and near the altar inside the Church.

Unlocking Village Treasures and Rewards

Using Small Keys on locked drawers throughout the Village unlocks several lucrative treasures to sell to the Merchant. The drawer in the Abandoned Factory yields an Elegant Mask, whereas the Village Square drawer contains a Vintage Compass. Other drawers in the Lakeside Settlement, Quarry, and Church house valuable items like a Gold Bar (L), a Brass Pocket Watch, and a Yellow Diamond.

Locating Castle Small Keys

Once players progress to the Castle, three more Small Keys become available to collect before entering the Island chapter. The sixth key is located on a crate in the L-shaped hallway right after exiting the Bindery. The remaining two keys can be retrieved from a cupboard in the Grand Hall area and inside a briefcase near the Merchant before taking the gondola in Chapter 12.

Maximizing Castle Locked Drawer Rewards

The Castle locked drawers reward thorough explorers with some of the highest-value treasures in the entire game. Players can use their collected keys to unlock drawers in the Audience Chamber, Bindery, and Castle Battlements. Opening these compartments grants valuable loot including a Gold Bar, an Ornate Beetle, and another Brass Pocket Watch, providing a massive boost to Leon's overall currency.
